Former Biolan Amy Atkinson Qualifies for 2012 Olympics
(UPDATE 8/8/12: Amy Atkinson finished her 800-meter run in 2:18.53 seconds, setting a new national record for Guam, and shaved off almost 3 seconds from her personal best time of 2:21.30. LA MIRADA, Calif. --- Former Biola women's soccer player Amy Atkinson (Liberal Studies, Elementary Education, 2011; Preliminary Multiple Subject Credential and Preliminary Single Subject Credential, 2012) will be one of eight athletes representing Guam and competing against the top athletes in the world at the 2012 Olympic Games in London, England. Atkinson, who is now a competitive track and field athlete, qualified in the 800m run which begins on Wednesday, August 8.
Atkinson recently finished her her pre-Olympic tour at the Oceania Championships in Cairns, Australia, competing in the 800 and 1500 where she placed third and fifth, respectively. She is now in England to begin training and preparations for the Games.
