Multiple or Single Subject Credential

Preliminary Special Education Credential (Mild / Moderate)


Multiple or Single Subject Credential

Once you have completed all of your coursework, fieldwork, student teaching assignment, and California Credential requirements, you must be formally recommended for the credential by the Biola University. This recommendation is submitted by Biola via the CTC's (California Commission on Teacher Credentialing) online system, but first, you will need to complete the following steps:  

1. Gather your materials

Print out the SB2042 Credential Application Checklist and gather all of your necessary materials to verify that all of your credential requirements have been met.

2. Meet with a Biola Credential Analyst

Make an appointment with a Credential Analyst in the School of Education by calling 562-903-4843. Bring your checklist and all of your necessary items to your appointment: exam scores, CPR certification, official transcripts verifying your bachelor's degree and Multiple or Single Subject coursework, and application fee. Once all requirements have been verified by the Credential Analyst you will be recommended by Biola University for your credential.

Print out the Special Education Credential Application Checklist and gather all of your necessary materials to verify that all of your credential requirements have been met.

2. Meet with a Biola Credential Analyst

Make an appointment with a Credential Analyst in the School of Education by calling 562-903-4843. (If you are not in the Biola area, you are welcome to complete this step by phone, then apply for your credential remotely through email or mail.)  Bring your checklist and all of your necessary items to your appointment: exam scores, CPR certification, Special Education Credential Transition Plan signed by the Special Education Director, official transcripts verifying your bachelor's degree and Special Education coursework, and application fee. Once all requirements have been verified by the Credential Analyst you will be recommended by Biola University for your credential.

3.  Complete Online Credential Application

Your Credential Analyst will instruct you on how to complete the online portion of the application with the California CTC. Once you have completed your online portion of the application, your credential will be issued to you by the CTC and you can begin applying for jobs if you have not already done so.
