The School of Education has no specific admissions requirements for the Liberal Studies, Elementary Education major, meaning any undergraduate student admitted to Biola University can select it as a major. Biola's general admission requirements are listed on the Prospective Undergraduate website.
However, students planning to earn a teaching credential must formally apply to the Teacher Preparation Program. This is done during the Introduction to Teaching course, LEDU 301, which is usually taken during the sophomore year. Students planning to take LEDU 301 must apply for a Certificate of Clearance from the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing. This background clearance requires fingerprinting and must be completed prior to any fieldwork in local school districts. Additionally, students must provide documentation of tuberculosis (TB) test clearance from their medical provider.
Candidates for the Teacher Preparation Program must also have a 2.75 cumulative GPA.
